Who is Kevin Van Lagen?
Kevin Van Lagen is a husband, father of five, educator, and community leader who has dedicated his life to serving rural Alberta. As Principal of Altario School and Director of Innovation with Prairie Land School Division, Kevin has championed opportunities for students while helping build a nationally recognized agriculture program that connects education, agriculture, and community.
Many Albertans know Kevin as the "Prairie Principal," where he has become a strong advocate for rural communities, agriculture, education, and the values that make small-town Alberta strong. His commitment to service extends beyond the classroom as a volunteer firefighter, coach, baseball umpire, and active member of numerous community organizations.
Kevin believes rural Alberta is the best place in the world to raise a family. Together with his wife, Ellen, and their five sons, he understands the opportunities and challenges facing rural families. Rooted in hard work, responsibility, and neighbour helping neighbour, Kevin is committed to being a strong, visible voice for Drumheller–Stettler and ensuring rural communities continue to thrive for generations to come.
